This is a photograph I took of a beautiful white calla lily growing in my English garden back in California several years ago. I digitally darkened the background of this image in order to enhance the gorgeous white flower that is a symbol of purity, and also a reminder that we are called to be the light of Jesus to this world.

I grew up in the United Kingdom, and immigrated to the USA when I was 19. After attending several different colleges over a number of years, I finally received my BA degree and began teaching children with special needs. However before I got my teaching degree I was a substitute teacher, and got hired to teach art classes in an elementary school in Southern California. The goal of this pilot program was to determine what kind of impact creative expression might have on the academic lives of elementary school students.
