I drew this pastel of Ebbie (June 2012) as a way of dealing with my sadness as I let go of the last of my beloved pets that I rescued months earlier. I needed to find homes for four of the six cats before moving out of state. What added to my sadness was that I had originally rescued her from my backyard as her stray mother had abandoned her at 4 weeks old. So I had to nurse this very tiny baby with a little kitten bottle and lots of love and care. Then I got the idea from my friend, Ramone, to create a picture of placing Ebbie in God's hands before I gave her up for adoption.
Several weeks later the Humane Society called to tell me that a nice lady had come into their facility and had seen this picture of Ebbie I had painted, and decided to adopt her, along with another kitty!
I praised God for His timing and for keeping His promise to provide loving homes for each one of my four beloved pets.

I grew up in the United Kingdom, and immigrated to the USA when I was 19. After attending several different colleges over a number of years, I finally received my BA degree and began teaching children with special needs. However before I got my teaching degree I was a substitute teacher, and got hired to teach art classes in an elementary school in Southern California. The goal of this pilot program was to determine what kind of impact creative expression might have on the academic lives of elementary school students. For six months I taught children how to enhance their drawing and painting skills by providing a nurturing, fun, and supportive environment.
