I created this picture from a larger oil painting of mine in order to focus on the single snow covered tree that brings back such warm memories for me. I remember the wonderful memories of the many hours my son and I would spend each Christmas looking for just the right Christmas tree!

He usually thought it should be fatter and I thought it should be thinner because of the limited space we had for it. But we always arrived at a good compromise and came home with the best tree... although sometimes we had to saw off the end of it so it would fit into the holder... or we had to hide the fact that it wasn't quite as straight or full as we had supposed.

But it was our tree and it smelled wonderful... and what fun we had decorating it! The handmade decorations, colored balls and white lights made it twinkle and glow as if it really was covered with sparkling white snow. For us it was always the perfect Christmas tree.♥

I grew up in the United Kingdom, and immigrated to the USA when I was 19. After attending several different colleges over a number of years, I finally received my BA degree and began teaching children with special needs. However before I got my teaching degree I was a substitute teacher, and got hired to teach art classes in an elementary school in Southern California. The goal of this pilot program was to determine what kind of impact creative expression might have on the academic lives of elementary school students.
