Description
I painted this oil many years ago in memory of my beloved pet bird, Petie. He was the sweetest little parakeet, and had a vocabulary of over 400 words and phrases. He would say things like, "I'm Petie Holland, just call me Pete!" "I'm a bird... I can fly... let me out!" And he would proceed to try and open the door of his cage with his beak.
When He was about four years old he contracted a bird disease over a weekend and died quite suddenly in my hands before I could get him to a vet. I mourned Petie for many months because he was so human-like in his joyfulness and such good company to be around. I loved him dearly!♥

I also had a parakeet named Petie. Problem being only one sex can imitate human speech and we had the wrong sex.
