I was experimenting with cutting bleeder tissue paper into various leaf shapes and then wetting them and letting the colors run and merge. I liked the finished effect in this abstract watercolor... It reminds me of fall leaves.
If you look closely you will see various animals faces scattered throughout the finished painting. I call it the "Giving Tree" because it reminds me of a Christmas tree with animal ornaments hanging all over it.♥
I grew up in the United Kingdom, and immigrated to the USA when I was 19. After attending several different colleges over a number of years, I finally received my BA degree and began teaching children with special needs. However before I got my teaching degree I was a substitute teacher, and got hired to teach art classes in an elementary school in Southern California. The goal of this pilot program was to determine what kind of impact creative expression might have on the academic lives of elementary school students. For six months I taught children how to enhance their drawing and painting skills by providing a nurturing, fun, and supportive environment. Fabulous artwork, Hazel! Love your technique in this overlapping the tissue papers. My sister did something similar with Picasso's Two Lovers many years ago. Always loved that, too. This image makes me think of that one. Love the bright colors in this very intriguing image! L/F
